Everyone Nose - How To Breathe...

Take a slow deep breath, pause, then slowly exhale. Do that again. Slow deep breath, pause, slow exhale. Now do it again but only breathing in and out of your nose. Breathe slowly in the nose, pause, then slowly out of the nose, and pause. This is called "nasal breathing" and is a research-backed healthier way to breathe.

Patrick McKeown has an interesting book called The Oxygen Advantage : the simple, scientifically proven breathing techniques for a healthier, slimmer, faster, and fitter you. In it, he discusses the health benefits of nasal breathing (as opposed to mouth breathing) which include increased circulation, lower blood pressure, decreased stress and muscle tension, lower lung gas exchange, increased endurance, and better sleep. But to keep it simple, practice nasal breathing today.

If you want to learn how to breathe more optimally, HERE is a Ted Talk by McKeown called "Shut Your Mouth and Change Your Life." Very good stuff that not everyone knows.

Enjoy the day!
