Something New

New is exciting. New is different and mysterious. New can be an object we receive, an adventure we experience, or a destination we find. It can be a project, an idea, an identity, or a connection. New means change, growth, or transformation. New is exciting.

The Season of New

Christmas is an exciting time because it is a true time of new. There is anticipation and mystery everywhere we look. We want our family and friends to know we love them, and we show this by sharing gifts that we hope will bring them happiness and joy. Something they really want. Something new.

We also celebrate the new era of humanity with the birth of Jesus. The new hope, new joy, and new model for living that that he brought to this world. Jesus was different, mysterious, and exciting. And he still is. This season is a reminder of the new life and transformation he brings when we live the way he lived. The son of God showing the Father’s love, compassion, kindness, and forgiveness. The son of man showing humanity’s empathy, humility, and service. New, powerful, exciting stuff.

At the same time, we have the closing out of a year and a new year beginning. It is a season to reflect on the past and hope for the future. Reflecting on the old, hoping for the new.

Pursue the New

I encourage you to do something new this season. Pursue change. Dream of something important you can do and make an intentional plan. Build some habits that encourage slow steady growth. Making a few tiny daily changes can result in some remarkable results. Embrace the mystery and enjoy the experience. This is a great season to pursue something important. Something meaningful. Something new.
