Happy Birthday, Violet Miller!

Today is April 25. Mom’s birthday. Mom is not one who looks for attention. She is one who likes to quietly serve in the background. But today I think it’s fitting to shine a little light on this precious life.

The Mission of Violet Miller

As far as I know, Mom has never written a personal mission statement. So I’m going to write one for her based on how she lives her life. Here goes…

Mom’s mission is to love deeply, serve willingly, act selflessly, give freely, and live compassionately. Her mission is to live a life of faith and action. Her mission is to seek out and act on opportunities to show kindness. Her mission is to greet everyone with a smile and leave everyone with a warmed heart. And I think she does a pretty good job of living out this mission every day.

The Secret Identity of Violet Miller

Do you want to know a secret about Mom? Something about her that she would never tell you? Well here it is. She has a secret identity. Violet Miller is a warrior! A prayer warrior! I found this out as a young child. I still remember the day I was walking through the house looking for her, calling her name. Then I found her, kneeling by her bed, deep in prayer. I still have that picture in my mind because I remember a painting I had seen in church of Jesus in prayer. I remember looking at her and thinking of that picture of Jesus. It was a powerful moment for me. And this wasn’t the only time I caught her secretly praying. Every morning, if I couldn’t find her, I knew where to look. There she was, kneeling in her bedroom, talking to God. Violet Miller, the spiritual warrior. The prayer warrior. We all thrive on relationships and genuine, heartfelt prayer affects our relationships. There is power in prayer and Mom has logged countless hours in prayer. She is powerful. She is a force. And now, the secret is out. Violet Miller is a warrior. A prayer warrior.

The Legacy of Violet Miller

We all have a reputation and every day we are building a legacy. Mom’s legacy is one of love, prayer, and service. She is known as a devoted mom, a loving wife, and a cherished friend. She is known as a friendly school secretary, receptionist, bus driver, seamstress, embroiderer, TRIAD volunteer, and Sunday school teacher. She is also known as a faithful Christian and a prayer warrior. She is known for many things. But for those who know her best, she is known as a loving servant who touches lives and makes them better. So today, April 25th, is truly a happy birthday. Everyone who knows Mom is happier because they know her and are genuinely loved by her. Thanks, Mom! You are an exceptional lady and this world is better because you are in it. We love you and are so grateful for you. Happy Birthday!
