Connect and Radiate

Living in radiant fullness. 

Exemplars of energy, work, and love. 

Let your light shine. 

Everything that is, is connected. So, we are connected to a limitlessness we do not understand but draws us in. This limitlessness is far too much for us to grasp, but we can appreciate it, celebrate it, and do our best to wrap words around this fullness of Life.  

This morning, I read this familiar passage from Ephesians 3. Paul wrote, “I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” 

Everything that is, is connected. I do not claim to understand this divine essence other than there is a presence and fullness that radiates in what I can best describe as the fullness of God. Philosopher, Brian Johnson, teaches that we are to be radiant exemplars, people who choose to live life as an example, as a model, and as an embodiment of excellence and virtue.  

Yesterday, I wrote about what Brian calls the “Big 3” of energy, work, and love. When we are intentional about taking care of ourselves (mind, body, and spirit), we find that energy and enthusiasm empower us to do the important work of loving, caring for, and serving those around us. It is out of the overflow of one’s own fullness that they can become exemplars. Attending to these Big 3, empower us to live in that fullness in all aspects of our lives. This is what we do (radiate and shine), because this is who we are (exemplars who choose to embody excellence and serve in this world heroically). 

In Matthew 5, Jesus said, “You are the light of the world. A town build on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” 

We are taught to live in radiant fullness and to be radiant exemplars. This is energizing us to do good work and to live in love. And as Paul prayed, I wish to be rooted and established in love so that I may live this day and this life more fully.
