Hi, I'm Rob

"Hi, I'm Rob.

And I love helping people

rediscover the wonder and awe of their lives,

because that's the starting point.

That's where we begin,

that's what we all want..."

In his book, Everything is Spiritual, Rob Bell was discussing an experience on a panel discussion put on by Time Magazine. The panelists were asked to give a brief self-introduction with a description of what they do. He talked about the struggle to articulate what he truly did. The work behind the work. The reason he did and does what he did and does. This quote above came from page 281. One page earlier, he prefaced this statement with,

"I'm filled with more

wonder and awe than ever,

and I want everybody everywhere

to have more wonder and awe."

To put it very simply, Rob is a pastor. I'm a teacher. You are a (name a profession here). But that's not really what or who we are. We are all something much deeper. There is so much more to each of us that cannot be expressed as a profession. I love the description Rob gives. He doesn't see himself as a pastor. He sees himself as a man living with wonder and awe at the great mystery of it all. A man who wishes others could find the same joy in simply being part of this great miracle of life. And that is beautiful.

We all have these titles and descriptions that paint a simple, perhaps shallow, picture of who we are and what we do, but I like the idea of delving a little deeper. Into ourselves and our purpose and our direction in life. I connect with Rob's description. I might add that I also love helping people appreciate and find the beauty of life, the trust in life, the openness to life, and the connection to life because everywhere we look, we find miracles. Life is packed with countless opportunities to be amazed. To be surprised and delighted. To have wonder and awe. To appreciate life. I hope you can find some moments today.

That's the starting point.

That's where we begin.

That's what we all want.

Thanks, Rob!
